Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 12, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Jobmaxx ("we", "us", or "the app") handles your information when you use the Jobmaxx iOS application and this website (together, the "Service").
The short version: your job-search data lives on your device, your resume is only sent to our servers when you ask for an AI feature, and we never sell your data.
1. Information We Process
a. Content you provide
- Resume content. When you upload or paste a resume, its text is processed to power features you explicitly request: the resume roast, resume parsing, improved resume generation, per-job tailoring, and cover letters.
- Job application data. Companies, roles, statuses, notes, salaries, links, interview dates and similar tracker fields are stored locally on your device. We do not currently sync this data to any server.
- Onboarding answers. Your goals, target role, and preferences are stored locally and may be included in AI requests to personalize results.
b. Information collected automatically
- Anonymous account identifier. The app may create an anonymous Firebase Authentication ID so your requests can be processed securely. This is not linked to your name or email — we don't ask for either.
- Purchase information. If you subscribe to Jobmaxx Pro, purchases are processed by Apple. Our subscription partner RevenueCat receives purchase receipts and an app user identifier to manage your entitlement. We never see your payment details.
- Basic diagnostics. Standard, aggregated crash and performance data provided by Apple if you have opted into sharing analytics with developers.
2. How AI Features Work — and Your Consent
Jobmaxx cannot score, rewrite, tailor, or prepare anything without sending your content to an AI service. Before any resume content leaves your device, the app asks for your explicit permission on a disclosure screen that names exactly what is sent, who receives it, and what it is used for. Until you agree, nothing is sent. You can withdraw permission at any time in Profile → Settings → AI processing, after which nothing further is sent.
When you tap an AI action (roast, generate, tailor, cover letter, or interview prep), the relevant text — your resume content and, where applicable, a job description — is sent over an encrypted connection to our backend (Google Firebase Cloud Functions) and processed by Google's Gemini API to generate the result. Interview prep may also perform a live web search about the company you specify. Responses are returned to your device; we do not build advertising profiles from this content.
Third parties that receive your content
- Google (Firebase Cloud Functions and the Gemini API) — receives your resume text and, where applicable, the job description and company you enter, solely to generate the result you asked for. Google acts as our service provider and processes this content under Google's data processing terms, which require confidentiality and security protections at least equivalent to those described in this policy and prohibit Google from using the content for its own independent purposes.
No other third party receives your resume content. We do not use your resume content to train AI models.
3. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not show third-party ads or share your data with data brokers.
- We do not require an email, name, or password to use the app.
- We do not access your contacts, photos (beyond the file you choose to upload), or location.
4. Data Retention
Tracker data, streaks, saved resumes, and preferences are stored on your device and remain until you delete them or remove the app. AI requests are processed transiently to generate your result; we do not maintain a server-side archive of your resumes tied to your identity.
5. Your Controls: Export & Delete
Inside the app, go to Profile → Account & data to:
- Export your data as a file you can keep.
- Delete your account & data, which deletes your anonymous account on our servers and wipes local data (profile, resumes, applications, streaks, roast history). You can use the app again as a new account. Apple subscriptions are managed separately in your Apple ID settings.
6. Legal Bases (EEA/UK users)
Where GDPR applies, we process your data to perform our contract with you (providing the features you request), and based on our legitimate interests in securing and improving the Service. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection. Exercise them via the in-app tools above or by contacting us.
7. California Privacy Rights
California residents have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Jobmaxx does not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise your rights, use the in-app tools or contact us at the address below.
8. Children
Jobmaxx is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Security
Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Backend access is restricted, and API keys for AI processing are stored server-side, never in the app.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, if we add cloud sync). We'll update the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
